Following the Minnesota Vikings victory over the Miami Dolphins on Sunday, the team hit a bye week to rest up and do some extra game planning for their next opponents. However, apparently Monday was not an off day for the front office as the team announced on Monday that the Vikings would waive their young safety, Myles Dorn and activate WR Blake Proehl from the PUP list.

Proehl signed with the Vikings as an UDFA out of East Carolina in 2021, but he suffered a serious knee injury during training camp that year, ending his season. This is the first time he’s been activated in his NFL career, so we shall see if the Vikings use the receiver at all moving forward.

At East Carolina, Proehl had a very successful career in which he recorded 130 receptions, 1576 yards, and 9 TDs over the course of three seasons.

The wide receiver returned to practice a few weeks ago, which opened the 21-day window in which the Vikings could activate him or leave him on PUP for the remainder of the season. Apparently, he impressed the coaches and front office enough that they gave him a shot.

As for Myles Dorn, he has appeared in four games so far this season, establishing himself as a special teams presence. There have been no defensive snaps for the safety during the 2022 season or his young NFL career, though.

That said, he did stand out as a positive throughout preseason this August. He appeared in all three games and started one of them. During these appearances, Dorn recorded 13 tackles, and he had a pair of pass defenses.

He was elevated from the practice squad following Lewis Cine’s season-ending leg injury. The Vikings also signed Theo Jackson off the Titans practice squad, but he has been inactive.

Since signing with the Vikings as a UDFA in 2020, Dorn has spent much of his young career on the practice squad. He very well could find himself back on the Vikings practice squad again, assuming he clears waivers.
