Two Vikings rookie didn’t sign their contracts when the rookies arrived for training camp. However, after Ed Ingram agreed to his deal, as Chris Tomasson from the Pioneer Press reports. Only Andrew Booth Jr. is left.

The rookie deal will be worth $5.998 million, with a $1.542 million signing bonus for four seasons. Ingram, a second-round pick, will enter a camp competition for the vacant right guard spot. Oli Udoh handled that position in 2021, and the Vikings leadership didn’t like it. It becomes obvious with a quick look at the offseason moves. Veterans Chris Reed and Jesse Davis signed in free agency, and Ed Ingram was drafted. Ingram is one of many Vikings draft picks who can contribute early in their career, along with fellow second-round Booth, top selection Lewis Cine, and third-rounder Brian Asamoah.

Good Pass Protector

The LSU prospect gained a lot of experience in a long college career. He’s a powerful guard, something the Vikings lacked in recent history. Watching him pushing strong people around on tape is exciting for Vikings fans. Once he gets acclimated to the NFL, he’ll likely beat out the veterans for the job. The question is — just when it will happen. He’s just more talented. Neither Reed nor Davis was drafted. Ingram, on the other hand, has to start sooner rather than later, considering his draft status.

His PFF grade of 82.6 in terms of pass blocking will be a huge upgrade over every Vikings guard in quite some time, which should make quarterback Kirk Cousins happy. The grade ranked him first among all SEC guards. Overall, Ingram appeared in 45 games for LSU and started 35 of them, all at guard.

He was part of the All-SEC Second Team in 2021 and had a great Senior Bowl in Mobile, Alabama, where he won the award for the American Team’s best offensive lineman of the week, based on his performance in practices.

After agreeing to his contract, the Vikings rookie can now fully focus on the training camp battle. If he pans out, Ingram is the Vikings’ chance to finally have a solid interior offensive line.
