10-2 feels pretty good, doesn’t it? It’s an elite record, the kind that only gets handed out to teams with a legit shot at making a deep playoff push. Doubts remain, though, mostly due to how the team has been winning. The most recent episode of Notes from the North – a humble Minnesota Vikings podcast – makes an effort to offer some insight.
Take a look at what Sam has to say: “Kyle and Sam spend the episode breaking down the Vikings win over the Jets. They discuss the defense, Kirk Cousins performance, and then spent the rest of the time trying to make sense of this Vikings team and if they are legit.”
It’s the “trying to make sense” of things that’s perhaps most fascinating. Sam makes the interesting observation that a lot of Vikings fans are torn between wanting respect and yet still doubting. Cheering for Minnesota has seldom been easy.
Did Kirk Cousins play well against the Jets? This was a topic Sam and I had some disagreement on. I, for one, think that he played OK. The numbers weren’t great and he did have some passes that were off, but he did step up in a few critical instances. Sam had a bit more skepticism when it comes to the play from the QB1.
No Wild update this week. Hopefully, the hockey fans aren’t too disappointed. We’ll be sure to come back to hockey at various points in upcoming episodes.
Folks who are into Vikings podcasts or think they’d like to get into Vikings podcasts should feel free to give Notes from the North a shot. Hop over to iTunes, Spotify, or Podbean. My understanding is that you don’t need an account at these spots. Just press play and enjoy the pod.
Enjoy the listening, Vikings fan.
