Two drivers were arrested at a checkpoint for driving under the influence of alcohol, the Chula Vista Police Department said Saturday.

The checkpoint was conducted from 6 p.m. Friday to midnight in the 300 block of L Street, Sgt. Anthony Molina said.

Of 1,085 vehicles traveling through the checkpoint, 462 vehicles were screened and seven drivers were given field sobriety tests, the sergeant said.

A total of 12 unlicensed or suspended license citations were issued and three vehicles were impounded.

Funding for the checkpoint was provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety.
