Two residents caused a traffic tie up in University City Friday evening when they cut down a large pine tree on their property, causing it to fall and strike a car on Regents Road.
The tree, which fell at about 7:30 p.m., also blocked southbound lanes on Regents at Pennant Way and knocked down a city street light, according to OnScene.TV.
The female driver of the Honda Civic hit by the tree, and her two small children, escaped without injury.
Authorities summoned workers from San Diego’s Public Works department to remove the tree. San Diego police and Fire-Rescue crews initially responded to the scene.
