The Vikings lost to the Green Bay Packers 41-17 in Week 17, losing in a nauseating effort at the home of the most hate foe. Minnesota dropped its No. 2 playoff seed by a rung on the ladder and will likely finish as the three-seed. The Packers appear to be fully effectuating their “run the table and get in” motto from a month ago.

Vikings May Have Blown Chance for Postseason Run

Wide receiver Justin Jefferson was ultra-quiet, tallying 1 reception, 15 receiving yards, and no touchdowns. Jefferson continues his quest for 2,000 receiving yards, the receiving yards crown over Tyreek Hill, and maybe some MVP votes — although some enthusiasm is dampened after the minuscule performance at Green Bay. He is now on pace for 1,882 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns in 2022.

The Vikings are early one-point favorites on the road next weekend against Chicago in Week 18, a team eye NFL draft order. The Vikings may or may not play starters at the Bears. We shall see.

The Lions will hope for a Seattle Seahawks loss in Week 18 and Detroit win over the Packers to get into the postseason. The Vikings are the No. 3 seed in the NFC behind the Eagles and 49ers and would host a home playoff game versus the Giants if the playoffs started today.

The Vikings lost offensive linemen Brian O’Neill and Austin Schlottmann against Green Bay, and the O’Neill departure — for however long it lasts — is deadly.

The Vikings will gun for their third consecutive win at Soldier Field this weekend.
