CARTERSVILLE, GEORGIA – During an age of aero-innovation – from passenger planes to the verge of space travel – automotive designers made cars look like they could fly. Vehicles were designed like fighter jets featuring chrome accents, wraparound windshields, and dramatic tailfins. Many credit Cadillac with executing the fin design and introducing it to consumers. By the mid-1950s, competing manufacturers developed their own versions of tail-finned automobiles. Visit the Fabulous Fins exhibit to explore automobiles that feature iconic, edgy, and sharp tail fins from the late 1950s and early 1960s.
