According to its CEO, Cruise, a robo taxi firm sponsored by General Motors, plans to expand its ride-hailing network this year to include Austin, Texas, and Phoenix, Arizona.

According to Kyle Vogt, who spoke to delegates at Goldman Sachs’ Communacopia + Technology Conference, the company intends to expand to the cities over the next three months and believes the new service may help it reach $1 billion in revenues by 2025.

Vogt claimed that Cruise had already secured permissions for operating self-driving cars in the city and had been testing a self-driving delivery service with Walmart in Phoenix.

There are about 70 cruise robo taxi included in the San Francisco service, including Chevrolet Bolt EVs.

Since the company’s founding in 2013, investors including GM, Walmart, Microsoft, and Honda have contributed more than $10 billion to Cruise. However, it’s been burning cash as it works to develop its own self-driving car, Origin, which it’s set to begin manufacturing at GM’s Factory Zero, in 2023.
