Authorities on Thursday publicly identified a National City man fatally struck by a pickup truck this week.

Mariano Pulido, 87, was crossing East 24th Street at Highland Avenue in National City when the vehicle hit him shortly before 8:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to the San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Paramedics tried to revive the victim before pronouncing him dead at the scene of the accident.

Investigators determined that the motorist failed to yield for Pulido while making a left turn from a northbound lane, officials from the office said.
