Pedestrian, 79, Fatally Struck by Pickup Truck on Encinitas Boulevard

A pickup truck struck and killed a 79-year-old man Monday on an Encinitas thoroughfare, authorities reported.

The pedestrian was crossing the street in the 1300 block of Encinitas Boulevard when the vehicle hit him shortly before 6 a.m., according to the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department.

The man, whose name was not immediately available, died at the scene, Sgt. Rob Siegfried said.
