Changes are in store for San Diego County as warm conditions continue through Wednesday before a cooling trend starts Thursday, the National Weather Service said.

Periods of Santa Ana winds are expected through early Thursday, with winds peaking Wednesday. Peak gusts will be 40 to 45 mph.

High temperatures along the coast Wednesday are predicted to reach the mid-80s, 90s inland, lower 90s in the valleys, mid-80s near the foothills, mid-70s in the mountains and around 90 in the deserts, according to the weather agency.

Forecasters predict periods of gusty west to northwest winds in the mountain and deserts over the weekend and a slight chance of showers Saturday night into early Sunday.
