New Warning Issued for Water Contact Along Silver Strand Shore, Days After Another Alert Lifted

San Diego County health officials issued a water-contact warning Saturday for the Silver Strand shoreline.

The decision comes just two days after officials lifted a prior warning for the area near the state beach in Coronado.

Beachgoers were advised that bacteria levels exceed state health standards and ocean waters may contain sewage and cause illness.

On Monday, the county’s Department of Environmental Health and Quality issued a warning for the Imperial Beach shoreline over concerns of possible sewage contamination. That warning remains in effect.

The Tijuana Slough Shoreline, from the international border to the south end of Seacoast Drive, will remain closed until sampling confirms the water is safe, according to the county.

Due to excessive bacteria levels, advisories remain in effect for Campland in Mission Bay, the Children’s Pool in La Jolla, La Jolla Cove, Shelter Island and Tidelands Park in Coronado.
