While the skill position players are routinely the highlight of Madden ratings reveals week, the team over at EA Sports hasn’t been shy about giving people the content they want. Minnesota has yet to see a player land atop a list and likely won’t, but the Vikings continue to be well represented among the top 10.

The linebacker corps for Kevin O’Connell will again be led by Eric Kendricks, and Madden has taken note of his prowess on the field. With an 88 overall rating, Kendricks checks in 8th for Madden 23, just ahead of Green Bay Packers star and former Minnesota Gopher De’Vondre Campbell.

Long-time Pro Bowl safety Harrison Smith continues to age for Minnesota, but you’d hardly know it with his ability on the field. He’ll play alongside 1st round pick Lewis Cine this year, and the goal would be for them to form among the more formidable secondaries in the National Football League. Cine will have a great mentor in Smith, and Madden 23 assigned Hitman a 90 overall rating making him tied for the 7th best safety in the game.

Vikings fans are certainly dreaming of a world in which both Danielle Hunter and Za’Darius Smith can remain healthy in hopes of creating a fearsome tandem. Neither makes the top 10 list of edge rushers overall, but both have quality skills assigned to them. Hunter’s 85 rating in block shedding puts him on par with J.J. Watt for 9th overall in the category, and Smith’s 88 rating for his power move makes him tied for 7th.

In somewhat of a downer, which has been the case since the day he was cut, former Minnesota kicker Daniel Carlson is tied for the 6th best at the position in Madden 23. Mike Zimmer’s flippant release has long backfired with the Vikings cycling through missed field goals and extra points in the seasons since. With Brandon McManus rounding out the top 10 at a 78 overall, the game doesn’t look too fondly on Greg Joseph.

Stay tuned for more Madden 23 news as ratings-reveal week rolls on.
