When the calendar turns to October, that means that children 12 and under get in free to more than 50 San Diego County museums, aquariums, gardens and other attractions.

For Kids Free San Diego, one or more youngsters receive free admission with a paid adult through Oct. 31. In some cases, admission is free for the whole family.

The San Diego Museum Council maintains a Kids Free Fun Guide with options throughout the county, along with coupons for other bonuses.

Participants include multiple Balboa Park attractions, among them, the Fleet Science Center and the Comic-Con Museum, along with the Maritime Museum of San Diego, Mission San Luis Rey and the San Diego Botanic Garden.

Kids also get to eat and play for free with dozens of deals on activities, attractions, restaurants and more. SanDiego.org lists the options, including SeaWorld San Diego, Legoland and whale watching.
