A shooting in an El Cajon home Monday left a 37-year- old woman dead and her husband under arrest on suspicion of killing her.

Patrol officers responding to a report of a shooting in the 1500 block of Soma Place about 5:30 a.m. found the mortally wounded victim in a bedroom at the couple’s home, according to El Cajon Police Department Lt. Randy Soulard.

Paramedics pronounced the woman dead at the scene, Soulard said. Her name was withheld pending family notification.

After questioning the victim’s husband, 45-year-old Abdulhannan Abdurazaq Al Wari, detectives arrested him on suspicion of murder.

Police did not disclose a suspected motive for the shooting.

The couple’s nine children, who range in age from 2 to 17, were at home at the time of the shooting, Soulard  said. Child protective services workers were called in to take custody of them.
