Gas Station Robber Wielding Knife Flees with Cash and Cigarettes in Encinitas

Deputies responded early Tuesday to a robbery at a Chevron gas station and convenience store in the Cardiff neighborhood of Encinitas.

According to the San Diego Sheriff’s Department, the robbery occurred shortly before 5 a.m. at the station on 805 Birmingham Drive.

A male suspect entered the store brandishing a pocket knife, demanding money and cigarettes. The clerk complied, and the suspect fled.

Authorities said there were no injuries. The suspect was described as a Hispanic man, but no further description of him or the vehicle was available.

Detectives will investigate the incident, according to the sheriff’s department.
