Firefighters Monday knocked down a small brush fire that burned three-quarters of an acre near the U.S.-Mexico border, a San Diego Fire-Rescue Department official said.

The blaze was reported just before 10 a.m. on a parcel off Caliente Avenue and eastbound state Route 905 near the Ocean View Hills neighborhood.

Battalion Chief Jeff Mitchell said crews put the fire out “pretty quickly” in 20 minutes. Although the fire briefly threatened nearby structures, there was no property damage, he added.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, said Mitchell, who added that crews from Chula Vista and National City assisted the SDFRD.
