FCC Establishes Procedures for BDC Filers Using Their Own Speed Test Measurement Tools

The FCC’s Broadband Data Task Force, Wireless Telecommunications Bureau, Office of Economics and Analytics, and Office of Engineering and Technology, have established procedures for challengers of the Broadband Data Collection and those responding to challenges that use their own hardware and software to submit on-the-ground speed test data.  While parties are not required to obtain prior approval to use their own software and hardware to collect data, the procedures describe that such entities must provide a narrative overview of their testing solution including how the testing is conducted and what type of software and hardware is used for the testing.
