Chief Dele Momodu, a publisher and writer from Nigeria, has been granted honorary citizenship of Atlanta, Georgia, in the United States.
He disclosed this after sharing a copy of the award certificate on his Instagram feed on Sunday.
Momodu was referred to in the certificate as a “outstanding citizen” who will be “afforded every courtesy as a Goodwill Ambassador from Georgia in his travels to other states, to nations beyond the borders of the United States of America, or wherever he may hereafter travel or reside.” The certificate was signed by Brad Raffensperger, Georgia’s Secretary of State.
Momodu was unable to attend the event in person, but he still appreciated the gesture.
“Though I couldn’t personally receive this honor in Atlanta, Georgia, I most sincerely appreciate the thoughtfulness and kind gestures behind it,” he wrote in the caption.
