Authorities Tuesday identified a body of a man from Escondido and reported that another man is in police custody.

On Aug. 13, 71-year-old Stanley Stephens was reported missing from his home on North Broadway in Escondido.

Stephens’ body was found within the jurisdiction of the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department, the Escondido Police Department reported Tuesday. The circumstances around his death and the location were not released.

After a failed search for the man in August, police began an investigation into his disappearance believing Stephens was a victim of foul play.

On Sept. 6, Eduardo Zamora, 32, was arrested as a result of the investigation. Zamora was booked into the San Diego County jail on suspicion of murder.
