Sheriff’s detectives on Thursday added video to the publicly released images of a suspect believed to have tackled a teen girl as she was walking along Prospect Street in Lincoln Acres.
The girl, 16, fought the attacker off and ran away, but said the suspect caught up to her and tried to sexually assault her.
A passerby saw the Tuesday attack and intervened, prompting the suspect to flee with the victim’s cell phone. She suffered minor injuries from the attack.
The suspect is described as an Hispanic male, 18, around 5’11” tall and weighing 180 pounds. He wore a tan shirt with a torn collar and khaki pants and was last seen running eastbound towards a gas station along nearby Sweetwater Road.
The investigation is being conducted by the San Diego County Sheriff’s Department’s Sexual Assault Unit, which released photos of the suspect early Wednesday.
