A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck the San Francisco Bay Area on Tuesday morning, near the Seven Trees region of San Jose, the U.S. Geological Survey said.
The quake hit at about 11:42 a.m. on the Calaveras Fault, part of the San Andreas system, at a depth of 4.3 miles, USGS added.
The temblor was the largest in the Bay Area since the magnitude 6.0 Napa quake in 2014, tweeted Dr. Lucy Jones, renowned seismologist at Caltech.
The quake caused no reported damage or injuries, officials said.
