A man was fatally shot early Monday in the Logan Heights area, and a search was continuing for a suspect.

The 30-year-old victim was found suffering from a gunshot wound around 2:50 a.m. in the 2200 block of Imperial Avenue, according to San Diego Police.

The man was taken to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead around 3:30 a.m., police said. His name was withheld pending notification of relatives.

According to police, the victim and the shooting suspect had a verbal altercation in a parking lot on Imperial Avenue before the shooting occurred.

The argument “escalated to a point where the suspect took out a handgun and shot the victim at least one time, fatally striking him in the chest,” according to police.

The suspect remained at large Monday morning. A suspect description was not immediately available.
